Long regarded as the purveyors of the world's finest woolens, we here at Jodek have been searching for a shirt weaver whose cloth we could proudly display along with the rest of our collection.  We are happy to announce the search is over.

Bonfanti Tessuti produces shirtings with a well established reputation for excellence; a cloth that stands out for its quality as well as its style; and a cloth that gives voice to the prestige that is embodied in a bespoke garment.

Bonfanti, a family business, is one of Italy's hidden treasures.  Enjoyed by custom shirt makers and connoisseurs of fine shirts alike, Bonfanti cloths have been regarded as some of the world's finest shirtings.

Bonfanti produces shirts in two methods: on full width speed looms (150 cm) and narrow width (90 cm) shuttle looms.  True to their quality, all Bonfanti's offerings are 2x2.

Bonfanti’s 90cm quality is made on its original “Omita” looms which are over 50 years old.  The wooden shuttles and the slow speed of these old looms (on average the looms weave only 2 meters per hour) create a cloth that is uniquely soft and has an unparalleled hand.

The video clip below gives you a quick glimpse at Bonfanti’s shuttle loom in action.  Look closely and you can see the wooden shuttle travelling back and forth.

This small scale production makes Bonanti and their cloths stand out as an artisan weaver and their shirtings second to none:
